Everything You Own Should Have a Home
Donate and Recycle to Go Green
It's inevitable. All this purging and organizing is going to produce a pile of things that you must now find a home for outside your home. This is an opportunity to be environmentally friendly and donate or recycle some of your belongings rather than dump them in the trash. Whether you give them to a friend, neighbor or take them to a charitable organization, someone can make better use of them. Here are some links to organizations that you can donate items to or take for recycling.
Best Buy - for electronics recycling
Goodwill - for clothing and other household items
call2recycle - rechargable batteries and cell phone batteries
Staples - ink cartridges, earn credit towards purchases
Cash4Books - cash back for used books
Stardust Building Supplies - building materials
My Sister's Closet - designer consignment for quality clothing

Additional recycling tidbits:
Consumer plastic bags are not allowed in your recycle bins but can be recycled at many grocery stores as well as Walmart locations.
Earn a little cash for all those aluminum cans at a Cash4Cans location near you.
Shredded paper can be put in recycle bins in Phoenix, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, and Queen Creek as long as they are contained in clear plastic bags (not grocery bags) and tied shut. Click on the name of your city for a list of guidelines. The following cities do not currently allow shredded paper for recycling: Glendale, FountainHills, Chandler, Carefree, Cave Creek and Sun City.
